National Fellowship for Students with Disabilities
This scheme is initiated to cater 200 disable students every year. All institutions/universities that are recognized under UGC (University Grants Commission) are covered under this scheme and other Non-institutional/ Non-universities is implemented by the UGC themself in the pattern of the scheme of UGC fellowship being awarded to research and development students pursuing Ph.D and M.Phil. This scheme of fellowship is available to all the disable students who come under the person with disabilities act-1995.
The financial assistance under this scheme for disabilities is as follows:
Fellowship
@Rs 31,000/- p.m for initial two years as JRF
@Rs 35,000/- p.m for remaining tenure as SRF
Contingency (For Humanities, Social Science and Commerce)
@Rs 10,000/- p.a for initial two years
@Rs 20,500/- p.a for remaining tenure
Contingency (For Science and Engineering & Technology)
@Rs 12,000/- p.a for initial two years
@Rs 25,000/- p.a for remaining tenure
Escorts / Reader Assistance
@Rs 2,000/- p.m in cases of physically handicapped & blind candidates.
