National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education

The main objective of this scheme is to promote the enrollment of the girl child in the age group between 14 to 18 years, particularly students who pass 8th and motivate girls to step into secondary education. A sum of INR 3000/- is deposited in the name of eligible unmarried beneficer as a fixed deposit when then enrolled in for class 9th. Later they are allowed to withdraw it along with recurring interest once they pass class 10th and reach 18 years of age.

Girls should be below 16 years of age while joining 9th class. Girls who pass 8th class examination irrespective of their castes, from kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and enroll for 9th class in UT/state Government, local body or any government aided schools. But girls who study in private unaided schools and married girls who are enrolled in schools run by the government of India like NVS, KVS and CBS affiliated schools are not included.
